mirrors, labyrinths, libraries and other figures: aesthetics of Borges
TALK ABOUT Borges can multiply because it is full of mirrors or can lead to insanity as a maze contains multiple and unlimited, you can subdue an island that England will end up being discovered to our horror that we are the dream of another dream, or perhaps we we dream like the shadow that is the Tiger or the rose.
The title of this book is deliberately mirrors, labyrinths, libraries and other figures ... included themes or symbols but with metaphors, images, personifications, the enumerations hypallage or chaotic, those symbols are the essential elements that make up the aesthetics of Borges.
The choice is personal, but we have tried meaningful and complete. There are symbols of beauty, mystery and elegance as the tiger or the rose, a symbol suggests the past, the ancestors of swords, there are symbols that have to do with man's destiny and embody the philosophy of Borges: sleep, time , the other and the labyrinth, a symbol of happiness: the library, there are two nightmares: the mirrors and the labyrinth. In Borges oral
find the following explanation:
"I would say I have two nightmares that may be confused. I have the nightmare of the labyrinth ... My other nightmare is that of the mirror. They are different as two mirrors opposite enough to build a labyrinth. I remember seeing at home Dora Alvear, in Belgrano, a circular room whose walls and gates were a mirror, so that whoever entered the room was at the center of a maze actually infinite. I always dream of labyrinths and mirrors. "
